Swift Rallycross Championships

Did That Really Happen?

As we say goodbye to 2012 we take a brief look back at an amazing year.

The Autosport Show where Jason Plato and Louise Goodman sampled the Swifts in front of the Live Action Arena audience.

Our Open Day at Lydden Hill was the place to be on 4th February 2012 - The 40th Anniversary of Rallycross.  The unexpected snow added an interesting twist to the day but did not put off Belgian driver Kris Fruru who made the trip across and went on to contest Rounds 1 & 8 in a hire car.

The eight round championship with the addition from the British Rallycross Championship of the double-header at Nutts Corner in June gave excitement all the way.  With seven different drivers winning rounds and 3 title contenders at the final round.   With such close racing it kept us guessing right to the final.

The juniors saw Paige Bellerby and Aidan Hills take the step up to seniors making way for new kids on the block James Ross and Charlie Bean to join Mathew Thomas with the later addition of Kevin Hansen who made the trip to Northern Ireland from Sweden just days after his 14th Birthday.

The Swifts also featured at a number of shows throughout the year.  Japfest 2 where Chris Mullen and Johny Bean entertained the visitors providing passenger rides along with junior Charlie Bean who helped the Peter Gwynne Motosport Team on the stand.

The Mini Festival at Lydden Hill

The Rallyday Show invited the Swifts back to provide demonstration races to open & close the Feature Stage which starred Petter Solberg.

The Suzuki Day Show giving fellow Swift and Suzuki owners the chance to see what we get up to with our cars.

TRAX - The Ultimate Performance Car Event.

Northallerton High Street for the pre British Rallycross Grand Prix Display.

The Peter Gwynne Motorsport Swift even made its way onto the WRC Wales Rally GB Celtic Manor Stage before the rally cars!  Keeping the crowds entertained before the Stage started Ed Muldoon provided passenger rides for the WRC VIP Guests through the stage.
