Newcomers Set for Knockhill

Two talented newcomers join the Swift Sport Rallycross grid for 2014. Having put in such strong performances during the opening round at Lydden Hill in March, both are keen to get going as the championship heads to Knockhill in Scotland this weekend.

19 year old Mark Dodsworth from Southampton began his career on track five years ago with The Under 17’s Car Club. In 2012, Mark reached the finals of the prestigious Ginetta Junior Scholarship before passing his BARS test just one day after his 18th birthday, allowing him to take up rallying.

“I love Rallycross and enjoy the driving”, said Mark after his first weekend at Lydden Hill. “Already I am learning a lot this year against such strong competition.”  Dodsworth pilots a Peter Gwynne Motorsport Hire Swift for the season.

Also lining up on this Scottish grid alongside Mark for the first time is 30 year old Jack Brown from Barnsley. Jack’s extensive experience and achievements in Autograss and Stock Car racing means he is no stranger to the track and not afraid to get in on the action.

Over a thirteen year motor racing career, Jack has won the East Coast Autograss Class 1 Championship and achieved several second and third place finishes driving a Mini 1000 and a highly modified Fiat Cinquecento. In 2009, he stepped into BriSCA F2 Stock Cars and has now decided to take on a new challenge in the form of Rallycross with the Swifts.

“I am really looking forward to my first season in the Swifts and a new challenge of mixed tarmac and gravel surfaces. After a great opening round at Lydden Hill, I was disappointed I could not make it to Valkenswaard due to the National A licence requirement but am excited to be back in the car at Knockhill.”

Both Mark and Jack will be aiming high in Scotland to impress up against the series’ regulars and build on their solid performances and experience from the opening round.
