The voice of The FIA World Rallycross Championship, Andrew Coley, is set to contest the opening round to the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship on Saturday 17th March for the first ever Rallycross event to be held at Silverstone Circuit.
Coley will pilot one of the Peter Gwynne Motorsport Team hire fleet to sample the new circuit that will host the British Round of the World RX later this year, 25-27 May.
"I'm really excited to be taking part in round one of the British Rallycross Championship in the Suzuki Swift category with Peter Gwynne Motorsport." says Coley
"I’ve known Pete for years and used to work at his rally school, where I regularly got told off for my driving, so I’ve no idea why he’s letting me back behind the wheel! In all seriousness the Suzuki Swift category is extremely closely fought at every round, so I’m under no illusions as to how tough the opposition will be. My main aim for the weekend is what it always is; to try and have fun and enjoy it rather than put myself under any pressure to get a certain result. Every time I’ve competed in a rallycross event I’ve learnt something which has helped with my job as TV commentator for WorldRX; though usually I learn it too late to help with my results on the day! What’s really exciting about the Silverstone BRX event is that I get to try out the brand new World Rallycross Championship track, in full competition mode, ahead of the Speedmachine event later in the year. Will be great to hang out with Pete again and looking forward to seeing everyone at the track."
